Hey there, I’m Sam—founder of Myths & Management, where HR, storytelling, and folklore collide in what I like to call the triple trifecta.
I’ve been navigating the world of Human Resources and Business Operations for about eight years now, but my experience goes way beyond that. Straight out of high school, I started working for my grandparents’ company—something I’ll always be grateful for—where I learned the ins and outs of business and some legal operations. That experience shaped how I approach workplace issues today: not just from an HR perspective, but through a broader business lens.
Now, I’ll be honest—I never officially got a degree in HR Management. But what I do have is a mix of certifications, hands-on experience, and a deep curiosity that led me to take courses in pre-law, psychology, theology, and sociology over the years. To me, HR isn’t just about policies and paperwork—it’s about understanding people, workplaces, and the dynamics that shape them.
Why This Blog?
What makes Myths & Management different? Simple: I tell stories.
Folklore and mythology have been teaching life lessons for centuries, and if you ask me, a lot of those lessons apply perfectly to modern workplaces. Whether it’s a power-hungry boss channeling King Midas, a backstabbing coworker straight out of a Loki tale, or the never-ending grind that makes you feel like Sisyphus rolling his boulder uphill, these ancient stories reflect real struggles we deal with in our careers today.
And look, maybe I’m reading into things a little too much—but as someone who studies folklore and mythology for fun, I truly believe there’s wisdom hidden in these stories that can help us navigate work and life.
